Currently, the use of various metal perforations in stylish facades is highly popular, offering a wide selection of hole sizes and shapes. Architects have great flexibility in designing with this material, allowing them to create unique and distinctive building facades. Perforated sheets are also commonly used for fences, railings, and interior applications.
Corten steel is an excellent choice for such a facade cladding solution, as it is a weather-resistant structural steel that rivals stainless steel in durability. It can be used outdoors without additional protective coatings, as continuous exposure to changing weather conditions naturally forms a protective patina on the surface. Simply put, the steel rusts, and that rust becomes its protective layer.
For facades with perforated Corten sheets, we typically use 1 mm–2 mm thick steel. In each case, the steel thickness is selected individually based on the sheet size and the chosen fastening method.
